Peter Doig, Grande Riviere, 2003
Hello! I will be taking it easy for the rest of the year (probably will try to write at least one more post) but we have lots of fun things coming up in the New Year. There will be another round of matchmaking in January, we’ll be doing a matchmaking party at Green Apple Books on February 10th, and who knows what else!!!
In the meantime, I have been procrastinating on this for, uh, multiple months, but finally: some demographic information for you guys. 724 Bookbear Express readers answered the survey (thank you!!). Out of those:
The average age is 34.65, which is actually surprising to me! The median age is 28.
Sibling order: 50% were oldest, 13% were only, 24% youngest, 13% were somewhere in between.
SF, New York, London, were the most popular individual cities mentioned as places you guys lived. Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle (basically all the major coastal US cities) were also very popular. But there’s quite a range, as you can see:
New York, New York, USA
London, UK
Endicott, NY, USA
Bristol, England
Toruń, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Poland
Sydney, NSW, Australia
Oakland
Tunbridge Wells, Kent, UK and Newcastle upon Tyne, UK
copenhagen, denmark but i'm french
Berlin, Germany
Sweden
lipa, batangas, philippines
46% of you guys identify as female, 50% as male, and 4% of you as nonbinary.
On average, you guys said you’re 6.71/10 happy, with a median of 7. But 495 of you guys said you were “more happy” than you were five years ago :)
To no one’s surprise, we are more liberal than conservative (7.3/10 with 10 being “most liberal”).
“Software Engineer” was the most popular job (102 of you), but there was quite a variety:
Product Designer
Computer Science Major / Virtual Assistant
Writer
I quit my finance job of 18 years to try to find meaning…currently still looking for it
Membership Manager, nonprofit association
Student
Psychiatry resident
I work at an international human rights nonprofit!

unemployed rn - engineer + entrepreneur
im a chef
Right now, nothing. Prior HR, or building teams, or writing in the future

Also quite a spread of universities:

We have 91 INFJs and 91 INTJs which feels… insane.
